Lime Learning And Development:
Lime Pictures is committed to ensuring that all staff have the necessary skills, knowledge and motivation to perform their jobs successfully. Staff learning and development is supported through:
Induction
The comprehensive induction programme is designed to help new employees settle in and feel part of the Company. It is also their first opportunity to discuss any training needs they may have.
Appraisals
The purpose of the annual appraisal scheme is to identify learning and development needs, discuss career aspirations, assess work performance and potential and to set objectives and targets.
Learning and Development Courses
Staff have access to a wide variety of learning and development courses both internally and externally, provided that the need has been identified and approved. Bespoke in-house courses are developed to fit specific learning requirements.
Secondments
Working on different productions enables staff to develop their skills and to work with new people with differing skills and approaches. The Company is keen to support secondments to other productions within Lime Pictures.
Temporary Responsibility Pay
The Temporary Responsibility Pay (TRP) scheme encourages the development of skills by enabling staff to temporarily ‘step up’ to higher roles, e.g. from Camera Assistant to Camera Operator for the purpose of holiday/maternity/sickness cover, and to be paid the associated rate for the period.
Training Weekends
Four training weekends are offered each year for budding writers, directors and producers within the company to develop their skills while also providing staff with the opportunity to ‘step up’ to the next level in their role – or try out something completely different. This enables staff to develop their planning, communication and time managements skills in a ‘non threatening’ environment with the Company providing the use of all facilities and equipment.
Storyline Workshops
Lime Pictures has hosted Storyline Workshops to which potential storyliners were invited as part of its ongoing recruitment drive. Applicants weree asked to complete a 400 word statement which included specific facts about themselves plus their views on Lime’s programmes and other topical issues. All attendees made a valuable contribution during the workshop and were then given one week to write a set of storylines and return them to the Storyline Team. Decisions were then made regarding the potential for future employment following each Workshop. Details of the next workshop will be made available in due course.
Trainee Director Scheme
Lime Pictures runs a Trainee Director Scheme where staff who aspire to be television drama directors may apply to work under the support and guidance of a Hollyoaks Director for 16 weeks. During the first 8 weeks they will prep and shoot certain aspects of the episodes, however during the second 8 weeks they will be responsible for prepping and shooting all episodes. Successful Trainees are then guaranteed a further block as a freelancer before embarking on a freelance career.
